is pipeline@butler?
Pipeline@butler is your central source for BCCC information.
Besides providing you a convenient and easy way to check your
email and college announcements, pipeline@butler offers you
numerous ways to enrich your student life. You can interact
directly with student services such as class registration,
grade reporting and financial aid. Additionally, pipeline@butler
offers shopping portals from which you can find music, browse
gifts, and book airline tickets to anywhere in the world.
All of pipeline@butler's services are divided into four areas
corresponding to your Homepage, Student and Staff Services,

What
do I need to login to pipeline@butler?
In order to log into pipeline@butler, you must be a registered
user, having both a
BCCC issued User Name and Password.
User
Name:
Students: Enter the user name provided by the Admissions or
Registrar's Office.
Password:
Students: Enter your birthdate (example 010101 for January
1, 2001)
Notice:
After logging into Pipeline the first time, a screen will
appear forcing you to
change your Password to another number/name.
Also,
when using the registration piece of Pipeline, a registration
PIN will be required each semester. The registration PIN is
obtained by contacting the Counseling/Advising Center. Back

When
can I access the system?
Pipeline@butler is available anytime except for the hours
between Midnight to
3:00 a.m. nightly. Back

What
do I need a Username and Password for?
Your username and password allow you to log in to Pipeline
and use all of its features EXCEPT enrolling or changing your

What
is my username?
In most cases, your username will be your first initial and
last name. For example, Linda Johnston would be ljohnsto.

is my password?
Your password is your 6-digit birthdate. For example, May
1, 1980 would be 050180. Back To Top
What
if Pipeline isn't accepting my username and password?
1. You have a common last name such as Smith. BCCC probably
has a Joe Smith, Jane Smith, etc. So, Joe may be jsmith1 and
Jane may be jsmith2, and so on. Before 5 p.m., you can contact
the advising center to look up your username. After 6 p.m.,
you will need to go to the registration office (Andover Location)
or email the pipeline
help desk
2. If you were enrolled at BCCC prior to Spring 2001, but
not in the Spring 2001 semester, you will need to contact
the admissions office ( 733-3255 or 322-3255) to get your
username and password set up. Back To Top
How
do I see what classes are open or who is teaching a particular
class?
1. Log in to Pipeline.
2. From the Pipeline welcome screen, click on the School Services
tab.
3. Click on Go Student and Staff Services.
4. Click on Student Services and Financial Aid.
5. Click on Registration.
6. Click on Look Up Classes to Add.
7. Select the semester for which you want to enroll, then
click Submit Term.
8. Choose the subject you want to look for. You cannot leave
this blank.
9. You can enter the course number (for example, English Comp
I, EG101 would be entered as 101). Or, you can leave this
blank to look for all courses in a particular subject area.
10. Part of Term allows you to look for a short term class
(8 week, etc.)
11. Schedule type allows you to look for on-line, telecourses,
etc.
12. Campus allows you to look for classes at Andover, Rose
Hill, etc.
13. If you are looking for a specific instructor, you can
choose their name from the drop-down menu.
14. Click on Get classes. This will bring up a list of the
classes that meet the criteria you searched for. Back

What
is the difference between a password and PIN?
A password allows you to log in to Pipeline and use all of
it's features EXCEPT enrollment. For that you need a PIN.
A PIN allows you to enroll or change your schedule on Pipeline.

How do I get a PIN?
PIN's are only given to students by an advisor. Before giving
you a PIN, the advisor will visit with you re: your educational
plans to make sure that you are on track to meet your goals.

Will I need to contact an advisor every
semester?
Yes, your PIN # will change every semester. Back

What
are the recommended browsers?
Recommended browsers are Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher or
Netscape Navigator 4.72 or higher, except Netscape Navigator
6.0. The newest versions are available for you to download
via a link on the pipeline@butler login page. Back

How
long is my pipeline account active?
Infrequent use of your account will cause it to be inactivated
after 150 days. If you receive a message telling you your
account has been inactivated, please contact the help desk
to have your account re-activated. Back To Top
What
is the Interactive Schedule?
The pipeline@butler Interactive Schedule is a useful tool
for planning your course schedule before entering the pipeline@butler
system. If you are planning to add any lab science course,
you must enroll in both the lecture and lab
sections. These courses will have letters under the link column
on the interactive schedule. You can get to the Interactive
Schedule by clicking on the "Take me to available classes"
option in the right column of the pipeline@butler login page
or by clicking on "live schedule" on the Butler
homepage. Back

What
should I do to log out?
When you have finished with your pipeline@butler session,
be sure to log out and to close your browser. If you fail
to close the browser and are using the open lab, the next
person to use the computer can press the back button and view
your information. To log out, click on "log out"
found under the e-butler logo on the top left-hand side of
the screen. Back

Why
can't I access pipeline from work?
Some students have used computers available though their employer.
Please be aware that some employers have firewalls set for
virus protection that may interfere with your use of pipeline@butler
from your place of employment. Back
